"Frequently
Asked Questions"
1.
Why can’t I check-in early in the summer?
In the summer time we typically have a full resort each week. Once the
guests leave on Saturday morning we have only 6 hours to completely clean
and inspect the resort and make it ready for the next group of guests
coming in.
2.
Why do I need to check out by 9:00 a.m. on Saturday?
As stated in #1, we need every bit of the time allowed between check-out
and check-in to get the resort ready for the group of guests and make
sure it’s up to our standards and yours.
3.
Can I re-book for next year during my stay?
Absolutely! In fact we encourage it. Please do try to re-book your unit
sometime during your stay to ensure that you will have your time and unit
again next year. Otherwise, you may lose your space.
4.
Are short stays available during the summer months?
We typically rent our units on a week to week basis (Sat.- Sat.) in the
summer. However, because we get cancellations and early departures, we
do on occasion have daily/short stays available. They will vary by unit
and time.
5.
Can I bring my own boat?
The simple answer is yes. However, we have seen in recent years a trend
whereby more and more guests are deciding to leave their boats at home
and rent a boat from either us or a local marina.
This alleviates the hassle of worrying about towing a trailer with the
increase in the cost of gas and the potential for a blow-out on the highway.
6.
Is a 14' boat included with the cabin?
Simply put it is not. It used to be, but with more people either renting
a boat from our Marina or bringing their own
boat it created a "difficult" situation at check-out. They asked
for a credit because they had not used the boat that came with the unit.
Therefore, we decided to no longer include the free boat with any of the
units and reduce the rates accordingly.
7.
How modern are your cabins?
Each unit is different, but they all are quite up to date and are equipped
with all of the conveniences and equipment you need for a trouble-free
vacation. There is nothing "bare bones" about any of them. Be
sure to take a look at each of them at our
website as each of them carries their own unique personal charm. No two
are alike. We offer a wide range of accommodations,
but none of them are lacking in creature comforts.
8.
Are all your units on the water?
We
are a lake-oriented resort and our cabins are just the same. Each of our
units has their own dock and respective lake view and water location.
Some sit on our private bay, some are located on our north facing shore
and Sunset on the Bay is on its own out post
location located on Nelson Lake’s own Lake 25. Refer to Nelson Lake
map and our own resort map for each units
location.
9.
Why don’t your cabins have phones?
The answer here is cell phones. It seems like everybody has one. Plus,
we want you to get away from all phones. Remember....you’re on vacation.
10.
What channels are on your TV?
We offer all local/network channels (ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS & FOX). It’s
not that we don’t want you to be entertained. It's just that we
don’t want you to do it in front of the TV. You can do that at home.
But if it rains, the units have VCR’s & DVD’s available.
11.
What kind of fishing can I expect on Nelson
Lake?
"So how’s the fishing?" We hear this question with every
check-in and we always answer as honestly as possible. At the same time
Nelson Lake is a very good fishing lake. But for the record it can’t
please everybody. Nelson Lake is a good panfish lake with a consistent
and excellent crappie and bluegill bite all summer long. (It can produce
fish all year long too) Bring the kids as they will smile! Now for the
bass here is where the serious anglers will congregate - simply put, it
is a premier bass lake. Probably one of the top bass lakes in the state.
Northerns have always been a traditional favorite here. There are plentiful
amounts and also trophies - Nelson Lake has been designated a "trophy
northern lake." As for the walleyes, there are two kinds: ones for
the wall and ones to throw back. The eating size are still on the rebound
and will remain so for the next few years. Nelson Lake remains hurt by
years of mismanagement in terms of its walleye population.
12.
Do BBQ Grills come with each unit?
Yes, as well as a picnic table.
13.
Do we need to bring our own lawn chairs?
We suggest that you do. There are a basic supply of chairs with each cabin,
however, they might not take care of every guest's individual requirements
or personal taste.
14.
Why can’t I bring our small dog?
It is not because we don’t like animals, because we do. Because
of individuals with allergies we have a difficult time allowing pets in
all of our units. However, our no pet policy is not an exclusive one,
as we do have a few units which we do allow small dogs. If you have such
a request, please contact us
regarding your particular date and we will do whatever we can to try to
accommodate you in one of our limited amount of dog-friendly units.
